January
2, 2007
SAN
ANTONIO - Alamo Community College District (ACCD) officials held
a ground-breaking ceremony for a new 6-story,
1000-space parking garage on the San Antonio College campus. The
parking garage will be adjacent to the new Nursing and Allied Health
Complex, a facility that will increase the college's ever growing
nursing and allied health programs. Both projects are being designed
by San Antonio architecture & engineering firm, O'Connell Robertson.
The parking
garage is funded by the $450 million ACCD Bond Issue passed in November
2005. The San Antonio College (SAC) campus will receive $79 million
from the bond issue for new facilities, renovations and upgrades
to technology and infrastructure.
The groundbreaking
ceremony included community leaders, ACCD faculty, staff and students.
A brief presentation included comments from SAC President Robert
Zeigler, ACCD Chancellor Bruce Leslie, ACCD Board Chair Roberto
Zarate, Vice President of 3DI/Foster Gene Rutherford, and Director
of ACCD Facilities Operations and Construction Management John Strybos.
